Clear Channel Outdoor, an outdoor advertising agency, said it will participate in Monday’s moment of silence by paying tribute to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and subsequent manhunt on digital billboards north of Boston.
Governor Deval Patrick has asked Massachusetts residents to observe a moment of silence Monday at 2:50 p.m., the time the first of two bombs exploded last week near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
During that moment of silence, Clear Channel Outdoor said it plans to run an image of Boston’s skyline. On that image will be superimposed a name of one of four people killed last week. Each of the victims will be separately honored.
One billboard is along I-93 in Stoneham, two billboards are along I-93 in Medford, and still another billboard is along Route 495 in Lawrence, Clear Channel Outdoor said.
During the crisis, Clear Channel Outdoor worked with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, or MEMA, and the FBI to provide real-time emergency messages on its digital billboards.
One such message said: “MEMA ALERT: Please avoid Area of Copley Square @MassEMA”
Another message said: “WANTED: Boston Marathon Bomb Suspect 1” The billboard displayed a photo of suspect released Thursday.
