Peter Dolan, Harvard Management Co.’s longtime chief of private equity and venture capital investments, left his post last week, a person briefed on the matter confirmed.
Dolan is considered a superstar in the world of private equity, where he controlled a portfolio that accounts for about 16 percent of Harvard University’s $30 billion endowment. News of his departure has been the buzz of private equity circles in recent days, as he held a powerful perch. The university did not comment on Dolan’s plans.
John Shue, currently a member of the Harvard Management staff, is serving as the interim head of private equity and venture.
Dolan’s departure was first reported by Fortune magazine’s Term Sheet newsletter.
