In its ongoing quest to alert consumers that the cranberry is a fruit for all seasons, Ocean Spray is suggesting that thoughtful lovers shouldn’t overlook its product line when it comes to expressing Valentine’s Day sentiments.
“Whether it’s a love note in their lunch, serving their favorite meal, or whipping up an extra special treat, Ocean Spray’s here to help capture your Valentine’s heart,” said the agricultural cooperative with a headquarters campus that straddles the border of Lakeville and Middleborough.
On the special treat front, Ocean Spray might recommend the Lava Lamp cocktail. Adding a teaspoon of Ocean Spray Craisins to six ounces of chilled Champagne will create a lava lamp effect in the appropriate glassware, the cooperative says.
And for those seeking incandescence in the name of romance, there’s the Love Potion. Ingredients include sweetened lime juice, grenadine, Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail, and Absolut Raspberri vodka. (When it comes to flavored vodka, “sometimes Y” doesn’t make it as a vowel. It’s Raspberri, not Raspberry.)
And for those who prefer the dessert trolley to the lounging bar, Valentine’s Day sweets can take the form of Cranberry Chocolate Truffles, Outrageous Chocolate Cranberry Fudge Cake, and Rustic Cherry Berry Pie Pops, Ocean Spray said in a press release.
Ocean Spray is an agricultural cooperative owned by more than 700 cranberry growers in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and other parts of Canada as well as 35 Florida grapefruit growers.
Ocean Spray posted fiscal 2012 gross sales of $2.2 billion and net proceeds of $338 million.
