The Friday5 is a list of five things worth knowing about, each with a Boston connection.

In honor of Black Friday, today it's sites and services geared to finding great buys online.

Want to add to the list? Post a comment...

- A team of editors selects the best bargains (and freebies) available at stores like Target, Kohl's, Wal-Mart, and Calvin Klein. E-mail newsletters include "Daily Deals" and "Weekly Wow."

- Daily Grommet: Video reviews of innovative products and gifts from a Lexington-based crew.

- and RueLaLa: Run by the same Boston-based company (recently acquired for $350 million), SmartBargains serves up deals on stuff like linens, jewelry, shoes, and luggage; Rue La La offers insider deals on designer apparel for very limited time periods.

- StyleFeeder: Service helps you browse shoes, apparel, jewelry, and accessories, and then learns about your personal style to make recommendations. Based in Cambridge.

What other sites would you add? Go ahead and post...

  1. Thanks for including Daily Grommet on the Black Friday list. We're the place to go for finding a gift the person definitely won't already have. We focus on telling each product's story and origins. Sometimes it is a technological invention, sometimes it is wonderful craft, and sometimes it is green or social enterprise innovation. Enjoy!

  1. Got another one for you: Fashion Playtes...a place for 'tween girls to design their own clothing and actually get it made. But a gift certificate. North Shore based. American manufacturing and heck of a lot of fun. Great quality. We did a review of it at Daily Grommet if you want to check it out:
