Can Goomba-stomping, mushroom-gobbling, pipe-traveling adventures of two plumbers translate to the big screen? This 1993 live-action film seemed to think so.
The premise was simple: Mario and Luigi, a pair of average Joe plumbers in Brooklyn, are thrust into a parallel universe populated with evolved dinosaurs to square off against a slick King Koopa (Dennis Hopper), retrieve a power crystal, and rescue a trans-dimensional princess.
But the finished product was not encouraging. Hopper called the project "a nightmare."
