What's in a name?
Curiously, Apple didn't give the new device a name as it did with previous releases. It's just being called "the new iPad."
Previously with the iPhone and iPad, Apple increased the number at the end or added another distinctive mark to the name.
The naming practice is consistent with Apple's practices for the iPod. New models were simply called "iPod," and consumers were left to figure out which generation of the product they were looking for.
