Phones with highest, lowest radiation levels
After the World Health Organization added cellphones to its list of items that can potentially cause cancer, you may be wondering: h ow safe is your cellphone?
The Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit that provides research and information to matters related to public health, keeps updated listings of reported peak radiation levels in phones. While all of the phones listed are below the Federal Communications Commission's acceptable limit for public exposure to radiation from cellphones – measured in what is called the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR, – a few are close to the maximum allowable level of 1.6 watts per kilogram.
