SAN FRANCISCO - Joe Tucci, chief executive of EMC Corp. which is making a hostile bid for Data Domain Inc., told that company's employees he would increase investment in the business and run it as a separate unit.
"We plan to invest in Data Domain and grow the business and the innovation even more aggressively because of our broader global reach and size," Tucci said yesterday in a letter.
Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC, the largest maker of data-storage computers, is trying to cut in on a takeover of Data Domain by rival NetApp Inc. Both companies are offering about $30 a share for Data Domain.
A Data Domain spokesman, declined to comment on Tucci's message.
