7 financial New Year's resolutions for 2012
Pay yourself first
Set aside an amount such as 5 percent or 10 percent of your paycheck, and automatically have it transferred to your savings or brokerage account. Automating ensures that you don't just "save what's left at the end of the month." We all know that never happens.
If you make the resolution to pay yourself first, think progress not perfection. If your goal was to save $5,000, and you only save $4,500, thats still progress. Want a little inspiration? Read David Bach's book "The Automatic Millionaire" and youll be sold on this concept.
