7. Reassess your goals
You will eventually find a job. It may be in a new field, you may make less than you were previously making, but you could discover that you are better off and happier in your new career.
Maybe taking temporary work will enable you to experience new fields and will ease your financial burden. Maybe it's time to consider self-employment. Look back on your past work experiences - what did you learn? What changes to your work/life balance do you want to make? Are there changes that you made in your budget that should be incorporated into your new lifestyle?
The National Longitudinal Survey suggests that the younger baby boomers (born between 1957 and 1964) will have - on average - more than 10 jobs in their careers, so keep the knowledge that you gained from this period of unemployment, because you may need to use it again some day.
