New airline regulations going into effect
24 hours to cancel a reservation for free
If a reservation is made at least one week before the flight's departure, passengers can hold a reservation without payment or cancel it without penalty for 24 hours after the reservation is made.
All the new regulations apply to purchases made through airline websites and travel websites like Kayak.com. The rule change allows for consumers to keep scouring the Web for deals and cancel their current flight if a better one comes along.
