BBB-Top-10-Scams-2013.jpgWe all hear about scams all the time. Sometimes, we can get numb to the warnings. With the latest round of data breaches at Target (and many other brands) the warnings are flying with a new fervor.

But is anyone paying attention?

Just to help boil it down, here is the Better Business Bureau's list of the top 10 scams of 2013. So, consider yourself warned ... again.

“These are not necessarily the scams with the biggest losses, or those with the most victims, as many people don’t report scams or even know they’ve been victimized,” said Katherine Hutt, spokeswoman for the Council of Better Business Bureaus. “These are the scams that seemed to be the most widespread, aimed at the most vulnerable, growing in popularity, or just plain audacious. Scams are every-changing, but we want to help people recognize them and be prepared the next time they get a suspicious call, email, text or solicitation.”

The top 10 scams are:

  1. Medical Alert Scam
  2. Auction Reseller Scam
  3. Arrest Warrant Scam
  4. Home Improvement Scam
  5. Casting Call Scam
  6. Foreign Currency Scam
  7. Scam Texts
  8. Do Not Call Scams
  9. Fake Friend Scam
  10. Affordable Care Act Scam

You can read more about each of these scams here. Have you been the target of any of them? Do you know anyone who has fallen for one?
