Fast-food restaurant chain McDonald’s Corp. says it is unveiling “a new, premium sandwich experience.”
The new offerings, which include the Bacon Clubhouse Burger and the Bacon Clubhouse Chicken, will be sublimed with the secret sauce for which the Big Mac is so justly famed.
Or as a press release notes, “Loaded with layers of hearty toppings, a new artisan roll, a choice of a 100 percent pure beef burger or grilled or crispy chicken and Big Mac special sauce, the new Bacon Clubhouse is the first sandwich offered nationally to include McDonald’s famous special sauce since the Big Mac.”
This roll-out comes as Chicago-based McDonald’s recently reported that sales at established US stores fell for a third straight month as bad weather and waning consumer confidence kept diners at home, according to a Bloomberg News story that ran in the Globe earlier this month.
“The Big Mac seller has recently struggled amid fierce competition,” that story noted.
In theory, McDonald’s new premium sandwich experience will entice more fast-food buffs to shake-off their cabin fever and throng its restaurants.
“Our customers love the classic Big Mac sauce, and we are excited to bring that special flavor to another premium sandwich,” Nicole Dinoia, regional communications manager for the McDonald’s Boston region, said in a statement. “With a variety of flavors and ingredients and a new bun, the Clubhouse is sure to be a customer favorite.”
