Watch out Shake Shack, b.good and Tasty Burger. Boston’s “better burger” market is about to get a little more crowded.
The Denver-based chain Smashburger is launching its first Massachusetts restaurant on Dec. 11 at Sherwood Plaza, across from the Natick Mall. Similar to the other burger joints mentioned, Smashburger offers burgers a step above traditional fast food with all-natural beef and hand-spun shakes.
The chain’s menu also caters to regional tastes, featuring a “New Englander” burger with cranberry sauce, grilled onions and cranberry stilton.
Smashburger has opened 240 restaurants since it was founded in 2007 and claims to be the fastest growing fast-casual “better burger” restaurant in US. The Natick restaurant will be the first of 12 slated to pop up in the Boston area over the next six years.
