Joseph Abboud is about to be reunited with Joseph Abboud.

The celebrated fashion designer from Boston walked away from Joseph Abboud, his high-profile clothing label, in a nasty business divorce eight years ago. Lawyers once went to court to enforce an agreement that Abboud could never use his own name commercially.

The line of men’s tailored suits and jackets that had made Abboud famous and wealthy continued on without his influence. He went to work quietly behind the scenes in the fashion industry and most recently joined Men’s Wearhouse Inc. as chief creative director. Last week the retailer disclosed plans to buy Abboud’s former company and its brand for $97.5 million.

“This is an emotional moment,” Abboud said. “All of this feels like it was meant to be.”
