Thanksgiving is almost here, which means it’s nearly time to gorge yourself on turkey.
But it looks like some of you have gotten a head start.
The folks at Boston-based takeout ordering service Foodler — the geniuses who brought us pizza analytics — have been chewing on more data and concluded that you’ve probably been chewing on more turkey in anticipation of Thanksgiving. What’s more, you’re likely to keep it up during the week after.
At baseline, only one of every 34 takeout orders on Foodler includes some form of turkey, be it burger, sandwich or whatever. It’s just not as popular as staples like beef and chicken.
But last year, the rate of turkey orders jumped up by 16 percent during the week before Thanksgiving. Turkey orders actually declined during the week of Thanksgiving, probably because people ate the homemade variety on the holiday, then increased to 17 percent above average in the week after.
“I know for me, at least, after Thanksgiving I kind of remember that turkey exists,” said Foodler co-founder Christian Dumontet. “I don’t normally eat turkey, but then after Thanksgiving I might order more of it.”
