The weird, the wild, and the bold: Boston's Kickstarter campaigns
Last week, an Ohio man named Zack Danger Brown made news after raising over $50,000 on the crowdfunding website to make...potato salad.
Few projects will go as viral as Brown's. But if the Internet machine is hungry for another wacky campaign to latch onto, we searched through over 2,000 Boston-based Kickstarters to come up with a few suggestions. Next
Project creator Ryan Staples loves coloring. But, he says, "as a grown man with no children, it's truly hard to find the time for it. So he wants you to help him buy some coloring books and crayons.
What you get if you donate: $100 will score you an invite to a "private coloring session" with Staples.

2: Nancy Wants to Stream Hearthstone
An unemployed Boston University graduate wants a new computer so she can play the video game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and livestream it for you.
What you get if you donate: For $10, "your name shall be shouted on stream during the first stream." If she were only whispering, it wouldn't be worth it, but since she's shouting, I'm in.

4: Bacon Sculpture
"I'm gonna make some kinda sculpture out of bacon," says project creator Rob Kaufman. "Maybe a castle or a giant Nutella jar." We think both sound great.
What you get if you donate: For $5, you get a digital photo of said bacon sculpture. For $20, you also get a photo of the "process."

5: RoadTrip America
Long story short: Two British dudes want to road trip across America, starting in Boston. And they want you to pay for it.
“There will be many parts of the journey where we won’t know where we are or where the nearest ‘gas station’ is,” they say. We agree. Figuring out how to fill up the tank at one of them high-fangled ‘gas stations’ is the hardest part of any car ride, for all of us.
What you get if you donate: For a mere £5 (about $8.50), you will receive "a warm feeling in your heart knowing that you helped buy us all a coffee."

6: Spark, the Watch that Keeps You Awake
Spark is a wrist watch that can sense when you're dozing off during the day, and "gently vibrate to wake you back up." This actually sounds like a pretty nifty gadget (not that any of us at Boston.com ever feel sleepy at work. Ever.)
The idea was born after one of the founders' older siblings fell asleep during a standardized test. "Because of this, he didn't get a good score or advance to the college of his choice," they wrote. Moral of the story: if you don't wear a Spark watch, you can kiss Harvard goodbye.
What you get if you donate: For $49, you get an actual Spark watch.
