Shares of Mercury Systems Inc. rose on a Reuters report that aircraft maker and defense contractor Boeing Co. is considering buying the Chelmsford supplier of digital signal and image processing systems. Mercury, which has a market value of roughly $440 million, offers big data processing systems, software, and services to companies including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon Co. A deal would allow Boeing to gain access to Mercury’s microprocessor business, which can be used on unmanned aerial vehicles, according to the report. Neither company commented on the report.
