What a winning lottery ticket could buy
All of Bernie Madoff's possessions
After he was arrested and convicted of running the largest Ponzi scheme in history, disgraced financier Bernie Madoff saw all of his possessions auctioned off. The sales of his many homes, yachts, furniture - and even boxer shorts - have netted a total of around $30 million. If you won the lottery, you could have bought all of those possessions, with $325 million left over. Unfortunately, even that large sum wouldn't be enough to make much of a dent in repaying the victims of the $50 billion scheme.
