Top 10 scams of 2011
What's your number?
Identify it: Phishing is when you receive a suspicious phone call asking for personal information or an e-mail, claiming one of your transactions did not go through and puts a virus on your computer to hunt for your data.
Avoid it: The scammer hopes you react quickly and click on the link before thinking it through. It may take you to a fake banking site to verify your account information or it may download malware to infiltrate your computer. Always check the e-mail address that it came from and look for typos in the e-mail.
