Vendors interested in a public food market
Four buildings have been scrapped. See what could have been.
Allandale Farms is boasted on their website to be "Boston's last working farm." Located in Brookline, this seasonal farm, which has been functional for over 250 years, specializes in fresh produce that is sold in Whole Foods markets in Brighton and Cambridge.
Jim Buckle, pictured here, whose family operates Allandale, visited the public market meeting and supports the idea, saying that it would help his farm reach more customers, increase the availability of health foods and raise the profile of Massachusetts agriculture. He was amazed though how many other people supported the idea.
It was packed, said Buckle. It blew me away how many people were interested."
