2,000 peanut products recalled

It was one of the largest product recalls ever. A salmonella outbreak sickened about 600 people, and may have been linked to nine deaths during the year's early months. More than 2,000 possibly contaminated products were recalled. Peanut Corporation of America owner Stewart Parnell declined to testify before Congress. The FDA issued various recalls and suspended operation at several peanut plants during its investigation.
