Highway and bridge construction
While construction jobs in Massachusetts are at a 10-year low, there will be opportunities created by the federal stimulus bill.
From the $6 to $9 billion Massachusetts is expected to receive from the stimulus, infrastructure projects are set to get up to $700 million.
The state is eligible to spend $437.9 million on highway projects, about a third of which must be started in the next four months. However, it is unclear which projects will be eligible for stimulus funds, as there are restrictions on how the money can be used, which prevents some the of larger transportation projects from getting funding.
