Crime doesn't pay, the old saying goes. But it can get you some nice things for a while, and Bernard Madoff is proof. Madoff accumulated an impressive collection of lavish homes and items while running the world's largest Ponzi scheme. Since his arrest and guilty plea, many of his former belongings have been put up for sale.
On May 19, 2011, his wine and spirits collection fetched $41,530 in an online sale, almost triple the presale forecast of $15,000.
