Heinz cuts sodium
H.J. Heinz Co. said it would reduce the sodium content of all its ketchup sold in the United States by 15 percent by May 1. The company had previously cut the salt in its Bagel Bite snacks by 20 percent.
Heinz was one of 16 companies that pledged to cut salt in dozens of items as part of the National Salt Reduction Initiative, a voluntary effort, spearheaded by New York City that aims to reduce American sodium consumption by 20 percent.
