A rundown of the Caritas deal

Caritas Christi Health Care, the state's second largest hospital chain, said this morning that it has closed its sale to an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, a New York private equity firm. The six-hospital chain was formed by the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston in 1985. Under the deal, current Caritas chief executive Ralph de la Torre (right) will remain, and run a Boston hospital management company set up by Cerberus. The Caritas system will now become a for-profit enterprise. Here is a look at the six hospitals affected by the deal, followed by a look back through the years at two of the hospitals.
