Burial at sea - a family says goodbye
Captain White led the prayer service for the mourning family, ringing a bell eight times to mark the passing. His company, New England Burials at Sea, based in Marshfield Hills, is one of many companies across America that cater to the growing demand for not just cremations, but for at-sea burials.
The Environmental Protection Agency received 70 filings for New England burials at sea last year, up from just five in 2005. White holds as many as 10 services per week up and down the East Coast, from Maine to Florida.
