The nation's second-largest bank announced in September that it planned to charge $5 a month to use its debit cards. The negative reaction from bank users was swift and harsh. People petitioned and mobilized and even organized a day to cancel their accounts together. Ultimately, the company backed away from the fee.
After all the hubbub, a company executive acknowledged the fee was "too aggressive."
