6. Foreclosures mount amid questions
As Massachusetts foreclosures mounted at a record pace and more people turned to renting by choice, banks and lenders became tangled in mistakes employees made while blindly signing off on foreclosures. As more people regained ownership of their foreclosed homes, lenders admitted there was an issue and Secretary of State William F. Galvin said he plans to submit a bill that would force Massachusetts mortgage lenders to get court approval before seizing homes.
