SCHAUMBURG, Ill.—Motorola Solutions Inc., which sells communications equipment to government and corporate customers, said Monday that it received a contract from Bucks County, Pa., to provide upgraded communications technology for its public safety agencies.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The new communications system will allow the county and its 54 communities to meet certain requirements set by the Federal Communications Commission before a Jan. 1, 2013, deadline, Motorola said.

The new system will be used by all public safety agencies in the county, including police, fire and paramedics. And it will improve emergency response among agencies both within the county and in surrounding communities, the company said.

In afternoon trading, Motorola shares fell 23 cents to close at $46.01.
