Another season, another team.

Jordan’s Furniture has pegged promotions to the fortunes of the Boston Red Sox before - offering buyers free furniture if the team won the World Series, for instance. And while the Sox are out of the running now, after losing a wild card bid on Wednesday, the furniture chain has teamed up with the Boston Bruins for a new tie-in that starts today.

Called “The Big Check,’’ it works along familiar lines: Sofas, sectionals, beds, dining room tables, rugs, or mattresses purchased at Jordan’s through Oct. 30 will be free if the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions win it again this season. The hockey team’s regular season starts at home on Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

When the Red Sox won the Series in 2007, the furniture chain gave away more than $30 million worth of furniture, Eliot Tatelman, Jordan’s chief executive, said in a statement.

“With so many players back from last year’s championship team,’’ Tatelman said, “We are very hopeful that the Bruins can bring home the trophy again.”
