The Capital Grille restaurant will move from Newbury Street to a larger space at the nearby John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in 2011, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority said yesterday.
The new location will be at the corner of Dalton and Boylston streets and will “bookend’’ the Hynes with another restaurant, said the authority, which operates the Hynes. The other restaurant is Towne Stove and Spirits, which was opened earlier this year by local restaurateurs Lydia Shire, Jasper White, and Patrick Lyons, the authority said.
Capital Grille will occupy about 10,300 square feet, compared with about 5,500 now.
Plans call for the upscale steakhouse to continue to do business at Newbury Street and Massachusetts Avenue until the new site is ready next summer, the authority said.
At the new location, the Capital Grille will be open for lunch, something it is unable to do now.
The restaurant was unable to renew its lease, the authority said. Owners of the property said they plan “a new and exciting concept’’ for the site.
Capital Grille is owned by Darden Restaurants Inc., which also operates the Red Lobster and Olive Garden chains.
