Now and then: Chinatown, Combat Zone
681 to 685 Washington St.
685 Washington St., left, used to be the Intermission Lounge. Today, it is Penang, a Malaysian restaurant that sells entrees ranging from $5.50 to $20.
On the right is a Boston landmark built in 1885, The Hayden Building. During the Combat Zone years, it was an adult movie store with private viewing booths. Now it is a renovated apartment building owned by Historic Boston Inc. since 1993.
