Plainville assessors: revenue from new growth to fall short

Posted by Ralph Ranalli February 20, 2008 07:53 AM

Plainville assessors have informed selectmen that revenues from new development next year will be about $275,000, well under the $400,000 that town officials had previously estimated.

Town Administrator Joseph Fernandes, however, said he is still hopeful that the final numbers will come close to meeting the original projection. Even using the larger growth number, Fernandes estimates that the town is facing a $1.2 million budget gap for the 2009 fiscal year,
which begins July 1.

The smaller growth number would add to that deficit.
