Water use restrictions in Ashland will remain in place until at least the end of this month, Town Manager John D. Petrin said. The restrictions were triggered when the water level at the Hopkinton Reservoir fell last week.
Ashland gets its water from the aquifer beneath the reservoir, Petrin said.
Residents are prohibited from washing their cars, using automatic sprinkler systems, operating ornamental fountains, or filling swimming pools. Petrin said police will enforce the ban with fines, and further restrictions could be enacted if the water level drops further.
