Final kicks as collegians

Tricia Auld and Jen Fratto were seniors on the Waltham High girls' soccer team in 2002. The two former Hawks will be back on the same field again Sunday at noon, when the two college senior captains suit up to play in the NEWISA Soccer Bowl at Merrimack College in North Andover.

A forward, Auld helped lead UMass-Lowell to a 10-5-4 mark in the Northeast-10 Conference this fall, while Fratto was an anchor on defense for a Tufts squad that reached the NCAA Division 3 semifinals in Greensboro, N.C.

Other area players chosen to play from Division 1, 2 and 3 programs in New England include Babson's Caitlin Cronin, Brandeis's Lisa Kaplan, Bentley's Melissa Blasczyk and Julie Gregg and Jenny Maurer of Boston College.

The annual event honors those players who for four years have helped contribute to their programs and to the growth of soccer in New England.
