Marian runs to playoffs

The Marian High football team grounded visiting Pope John in Saturday's Catholic Central Small showdown at Bowditch Field. With Andrew Supple (16 carries, 146 yards) and C.J. Oquendo (12-105) running wild, the Mustangs (9-0) captured the league title and clinched their first playoff spot since 2002 with a 34-13 victory.

Here's a wrap on our four other must-watch games this weekend.

Needham at Natick: The undefeated Redmen (10-0) recorded third shutout of the season in a convincing 28-0 win, the 25th straight for Tom Lamb's crew.

Medway at Medfield: Warriors captured Tri-Valley League title in resounding fashion with a 39-6 victory over Medway to secure their first-ever playoff berth.

St. John's at Wachusett: Pioneers locked up CMass Division 1 runner-up spot with 9-6 win over Wachusett.

Assabet at Worcester South: South denied Assabet back-to-back trips to the Division 3A Bowl with 25-0 win, avenging last year's loss to Aztecs.
