Norfolk student killed in Newton accident

Kevin M. Flaherty, a 22-year-old Lasell College student from Norfolk, was killed Friday when he was hit by a car in Newton.

Flaherty, who was a lacrosse player, was crossing Woodland Road when he was struck. Newton police are not identifying the driver, the Globe reports today.

"He was always smiling, so everyone around him was always happy," said Geoffrey Caravella, Mr. Flaherty's friend and lacrosse teammate. "There wasn't a time I spent with him when I didn't have a smile on my face."
