Speaking out

Ethan Corey of Newtonville, Tamar Frankel of Framingham, and Lawrence Grodman of Christians and Jews United for Israel in Newton, all sound off about the escalating violence in the Middle East in Letters to the Editor today.

Grodman argues that "Islamists have openly declared war on the civilized world."

In other Letters, Jean Roper and Vince Canzoneri of Newton weigh in on the problems with the Big Dig. Priyanka Dayal of Shrewsbury, a Boston University student, defends her generation from charges that they've been coddled, and George Yates of Maynard has some thoughts on President Bush and stem cell research.

Marc Greenbaum of Newton and Pat Ross of Wellesley also wrote letters published in the Business section.
