A new policy in the Maynard schools regulates how often snacks -- such as birthday cakes and cupcakes -- can be served and how often students are required to participate in exercise.
Maynard is one of about a dozen Globe West schools that are scrambling to comply with a federal mandate to implement a policy on nutrition and exercise by the start of the new school year, Globe West reports today.
