Plans for Restaurant Week 2006 have been announced. (If you aren't familiar -- this is the wildly popular New York City concept where stylish city eateries annually offer the masses a chance to get a bargain meal, hoping they will be impressed to return again at full price.)
This year, you can get a pre-set prix fixe lunch for $20.06 or dinner for $30.06 in and around Boston, Cambridge and Brookline on Aug. 13-18 and Aug. 20-25.
A handful of well-known west suburban places are participating as well, including Lumiere, Ariadne and Le Soir in Newton, Fava in Needham, The Elephant Walk in Waltham, and Truffles Wine Bar in Milford.
Some tips: Make reservations early, because desirable restaurants fill up quickly. Tax, wine and tip cost extra -- and it's nice to be generous with servers for good service, especially when you're getting a bargain on the food.
