Medical fraud charges

A Westborough man could potentially spend 10 years behind bars if he is convicted on charges of federal health care fraud.

James Taylor, who owns three companies in Westborough, is said to have over-billed Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield for equipment. In a 10-year period, he allegedly defrauded Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of more than $915,000, the AP reports today.

Each of the three companies owned by Taylor -- West Suburban Medical Rental Inc., Westborough Home Health Inc. and Vejay Oxygen Inc. -- could face fines of up to 1.6 times the loss to Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
