A giant by the Pike

FRAMINGHAM

Someday a giant may stand by the Turnpike in Framingham, a colossus reaching 230 feet into the sky.

Staples has plans to install a wind turbine to help power its headquarters and they've begun to discuss them with town officials.

Resident Bill McCarthy lives three miles away but he thinks the tower will be quite visible and officials ought to be concerned about the impacts. McCarthy ought to know -- he also owns a house in Hull where there are two similar turbines.

Read more about the wind turbine proposal in Thursday's Globe West.
