A national obsession

Writer Eduardo de Oliveira recently caught up with local Brazilians who were planning to head to Germany to root for their national team in the World Cup.

Brazil, an international powerhouse and a favorite to win its sixth world title, beat Croatia by a score of 1-0 in its first match this week. Many fans were less than impressed by the performance of star striker Ronaldo in that game.

Brazil next faces Australia on Sunday. Even if they can't be in Germany to see it live, there's no question many local residents will be cheering from afar.
