
Lane Turner began his career with The Boston Globe as a summer intern in 1987, and joined the staff in 1989 after graduating from Fresno State University. He has covered the range of Globe assignments from local schools to famine in Ethiopia. He served as the staff photographer at The Globe Magazine for six years. In 1997 he took a leave of absence from the paper to study Mandarin at Capital Normal University in Beijing, China. While there, he contributed photographs to an eight-volume documentary photography book project entitled Panorama of the Chinese Life in the 20th Century. Away from The Globe he is an avid cyclist and snowboarder.
