When I showed up, I was told that the pastor of the New Fellowship Baptist Church, the Rev. Stanley Deas, was on his way there. He was very upset. Water was still pouring down the balcony and through the ceiling, because firefighters had pumped a massive amount of water onto the fire. Rarely do we get into a building after a fire like that. He said, Look around. This is unbelievable. I dont know if well ever recover from this. Its that type of access you have as a news photographer. People drive by and say, Oh, there was a fire there. Im in there. You dont have to go in there. I can show you what its like.
