Best Boston Globe photos of 2009
By Dina Rudick, Somerville, March 1
As newspaper photographers, we constantly get these assignments that basically no one else will ever want to do. If you look outside and it looks like you dont want to be out there, that probably means I have an assignment to go photograph it. I went to a dog park in Somerville and I saw this huge blanket, this field of snow, which made me think, Theres a picture here somewhere. I found a park bench I could stand on so I could clean up my background. And then I saw this great dog and I knew there was a composition there. I waited for the elements to come in and out of the frame. I treat it like a visual joke. I crack myself up. Then you get back into your car and you look for another picture.
