RE "MADOFF and Ponzi: Reflections of their times" (Op-ed, Dec. 21): Bernard Madoff and Charles Ponzi are not alone in perpetrating (allegedly, in Madoff's case) a giant scheme to dupe unsuspecting investors. As Mitchell Zuckoff describes, a Ponzi scheme has a "breaking point," which is "the moment when more investors withdraw than deposit, and the money runs out." Many people and I have been investing in such a scheme for years. It is called Social Security.
