Finally! The adorable-sounding Farm & Fable is officially open, according to their Facebook page. The shop sells rare cookbooks dating from the 1800's, out-of-print tomes containing offbeat recipes, and works from the occasional boldface chef for good measure.

Daily Candy also marvels at the lush assortment of antique tableware and "risque" cocktail glasses. Next month, the shop launches a cookbook club, where devotees prepare dishes from a select cookbook and taste test. (Sounds like Top Chef, but less intense.) A below-ground kitchen also hosts cooking demos. Farm-to-table has gotten a bit played out, but Farm & Fable has arrived just in time.

Farm & Fable, 251 Shawmut Avenue, Boston
