A post on BostonChefs.com announces that the Merchant will open on Franklin St. in December. It's a 200-seat brasserie headed by Matthew Foley, who used to be sous chef at Craigie on Main (hopefully this bodes well for the food). "In true Brasserie style, the Merchant will be open 7 days early 'til late," says the post. According to their website, they'll also have lunch and dinner service, a raw bar, and 36 beers on tap. BRT notes that the liquor license comes from the Theatre District's now-closed Pigalle.
